Live Race Broadcast & OBS Overlays
Transform your league races and private lobbies into professional live esports broadcasts with real-time multi-car telemetry aggregation and transparent OBS browser sources.
Overview & Capabilities
In high-stakes Gran Turismo 7 league racing and endurance events, commentators and streamers often struggle to follow battles happening across the circuit. Pit Crew Hub's Live Broadcast system enables up to 20 drivers to stream real-time car telemetry into a unified grid aggregation hub with sub-100ms latency.
- F1 & GT-Style Timing Tower: Real-time leaderboard with dynamic position changes, intervals to cars ahead, gaps to the race leader, tire wear degradation, and in-pit alerts.
- Head-to-Head Duel Overlays: Side-by-side battle card highlighting live speeds, gear selections, and real-time throttle/brake telemetry meters during overtakes.
- Ultra-Lightweight Protocol: 10 Hz binary WebSocket streaming (~72 bytes/frame upstream) ensures zero network impact on the driver's in-game ping or gameplay.
- Instant Room PIN: Zero complicated IP or router setup. Hosts generate a simple 6-character PIN (e.g.
GT7PRO) for drivers to join.
How to Host a Broadcast Session
Follow these steps to set up a live broadcast for your stream or league event:
- Open Pit Crew Hub on Desktop, Android, or iOS.
- Open the navigation drawer and select Live Broadcast under the Telemetry section.
- Navigate to the Host Session tab.
- Enter an optional session title (e.g. GT3 World Championship - Round 4) and click Create Room & Generate Overlays.
- Your unique 6-character Room PIN and customized OBS Browser Source URLs will be generated immediately.
Adding Overlays to OBS Studio / Streamlabs
Both the Timing Tower and Duel Battle Card are designed as transparent HTML5 browser sources that sit cleanly on top of your captured GT7 gameplay.
| Overlay Source | Recommended Width | Recommended Height | FPS |
|---|---|---|---|
Timing Tower (tower.html) |
340 px |
720 - 900 px |
30 or 60 FPS |
Duel Battle Card (duel.html) |
740 px |
160 px |
30 or 60 FPS |
Step-by-Step OBS Configuration:
- In OBS Studio, locate the Sources panel and click + → Browser.
- Name the source (e.g. PitCrew Timing Tower).
- Paste the Timing Tower URL copied from your Pit Crew Hub host screen into the URL field.
- Set Width to
340and Height to800. - Ensure Custom CSS leaves the background transparent (default:
body { background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0); margin: 0px auto; overflow: hidden; }). - Click OK. The tower will automatically connect and listen for incoming driver telemetry!
💡 Pro Tip: Customizing Overlay Parameters
You can customize the timing tower display by editing the URL query parameters in OBS:
• &limit=10: Only display the top 10 positions.
• &mode=GAP: Lock the readout to Gap to Leader.
• &mode=INT: Lock the readout to Interval to Car Ahead (defaults to auto-cycling every 10s).
How Drivers Join the Broadcast
Drivers participating in your race do not need to configure OBS or any streaming software. All they need is the Pit Crew Hub client:
- Ensure Gran Turismo 7 is active and local telemetry is receiving (indicated by a green connection indicator).
- Open the navigation menu and select Live Broadcast.
- Tap the Stream as Driver tab.
- Enter the 6-character Room PIN provided by the commentator/streamer (e.g.
GT7PRO). - Confirm your driver display name and click Start Live Telemetry Broadcast.
Once connected, your car's speed, inputs, position, and tire data will immediately appear on the commentator's OBS overlay in real time!
