Discord & PS5 Voice Setup Guide

Pit Crew Hub allows you to route all shift tones, reference braking point beeps, and crew chief spotter announcements directly into your headset while racing on PlayStation 5. This is achieved by linking the application to a Discord voice channel, which you then join directly from your PS5 dashboard.

How it works: The Pit Crew Hub app detects real-time telemetry from Gran Turismo 7. When an event is triggered (like reaching the optimal shift point), the app communicates with the server, which synthesizes the audio cue and pipes it directly to your Discord server's voice channel using the official Pit Crew bot.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1 Create a Discord Server & Add the Bot
You need a Discord server where you have administrative permissions to add bots. We recommend creating a dedicated, private server for your own personal crew-chief audio.
1. Open the Discord application (on Desktop or Mobile) and click the green + (Add a Server) button on the left sidebar.
2. Choose Create My Own, name the server (e.g. "My Pit Wall"), and click Create.
3. Add the official Pit Crew Bot to your newly created server by clicking the link below:

4. Select your new server from the dropdown, verify that the bot is granted Connect and Speak permissions, and click Authorize.
5. Configure Inactivity Timeout (Essential for PS5): In your Discord server, go to Server Settings > Overview. Under the Inactive section, set Inactive Channel to None or set Inactive Timeout to 1 hour (the maximum allowed). Because shift beeps and spotter calls are strictly one-way audio and sim racers frequently mute their controller/headset microphone, Discord's default 5-minute inactivity timer can mistake you for being AFK and disconnect your PS5 from the voice channel!

2 Link your Discord Account to PlayStation 5
To transfer Discord voice chat audio directly into your PS5 controller or headset, you must link your Discord and PlayStation Network accounts.
1. Go to the home screen of your PlayStation 5 and open Settings (gear icon at the top right).
2. Navigate to Users and Accounts > Linked Services.
3. Select Discord and click Link Account.
4. Confirm the prompt, and select how you want to sign in:
  - Scan the displayed QR Code with your mobile device (must be logged into the same Discord account).
  - Or click the link to use the web browser and enter the displayed 8-digit authorization code on discord.com/activate.
5. Authorize the link to complete the connection between your accounts.

3 Connect your PS5 to the Discord Voice Channel
Once linked, you can browse your Discord servers and join voice channels directly from your PS5 controller.
1. Press the PS Button on your DualSense controller to open the PS5 Control Center.
2. Select the Game Base card (looks like headphones/chat icon).
3. Navigate to the Discord tab.
4. Select the custom Discord server you created in Step 1 (e.g. "My Pit Wall").
5. Select the voice channel you want to join (typically "General").
6. Click Join on PlayStation. Your headset/controller audio will now be connected to the Discord voice channel, enabling you to hear other participants and bots in the channel alongside your GT7 game audio.

4 Connect the Pit Crew Hub App to the Voice Channel
The final step is to configure the application to send audio cues to the same channel.
1. Open the Pit Crew Hub application on your desktop, mobile, or tablet device.
2. Navigate to the Settings screen (using the gear icon in the navigation drawer or top bar).
3. Scroll down to the **DISCORD AUDIO ROUTING** section.
4. Click the **Login with Discord** button (if you are currently in a Guest session) and authorize the application.
5. Once authenticated, click the **Connect Discord Voice Channel** button.
6. In the dialog that appears:
  - Select your server (e.g. "My Pit Wall") under the **Select Discord Server** list.
  - Select the matching voice channel (e.g. "General") under the **Select Voice Channel** list.
7. Click **Connect**. The app will show a green *"Connected to Discord Voice"* label with your server and channel details.

5 Test the Connection
Verify that audio routing is working correctly before starting your race.
1. Make sure you have your headset on (or are listening to your PS5 game audio output).
2. In the **DISCORD AUDIO ROUTING** section of your app settings, toggle the **Enable Optimal Shift Beep** setting to active.
3. Click the **Test Shift Audio Tone** button.
4. You should hear the shift beep tone play directly inside your PS5 headset with sub-millisecond delay!

Additional Tips

Preventing PS5 Inactivity Disconnections: If your PS5 repeatedly disconnects from Discord mid-race, this happens because Discord and the PS5 evaluate connection liveness based on microphone input packets. Because the bot only streams audio one-way into your headset and drivers often mute their microphone (or race in silence), the system assumes the call is idle:
- Set Server Inactive Timeout to 1 Hour: In your Discord server's Server Settings > Overview, set Inactive Timeout to 1 hour (and ensure Inactive Channel is set to None).
- Keep PS5 Microphone Active: Unmute the DualSense controller or headset microphone (turn off the orange mute light). You can lower the input sensitivity in PS5 Settings > Sound > Microphone > Adjust Microphone Level so game or wheel sounds aren't picked up, but having the mic active allows the PS5 to continuously stream keep-alive packets to Discord.
Audio Mixing: You can adjust the balance between the game audio and Discord voice audio in your PS5's Sound > Voice Chat Balance settings to make sure you hear the shift beeps clearly above engine noises.
Bot Connection Persistence: The Pit Crew bot will automatically disconnect from your voice channel if the application remains idle (no telemetry data received) for more than 10 minutes to preserve server resources. Starting a new GT7 telemetry session will automatically prompt the bot to rejoin.
Delay Adjustment: If you are livestreaming and notice the beeps are out-of-sync with your stream overlay, use the Delay for Discord slider in settings to delay the audio beeps to match your streaming delay (up to 5.0 seconds).
Voice Assistant ("Pit Crew" Wake Word): Note that the Pit Crew Discord bot is strictly an audio output transmitter (one-way broadcast into your headset). When you speak the "Pit Crew" activation word, the application listens through the microphone on the device running Pit Crew Hub (your phone, tablet, or PC mounted on your rig), not the Discord voice stream from your PS5.
