Frequent Discord voice chat drops or disconnections on PS5 are a known platform issue that stems from how Sony's operating system interacts with Discord's voice gateways. While your internet connection may remain rock-solid for PlayStation Network online multiplayer, the Discord background service drops for a few specific reasons:

• Microphone Inactivity & Liveness Detection: Discord and the PS5 evaluate connection liveness through microphone packet streaming. Because the Pit Crew bot only transmits audio one-way into your headset (shift tones and spotter speech) and sim racers frequently mute their DualSense controller or headset microphone during tense laps, the system assumes the driver has gone AFK and terminates the call.
• Discord Server Inactivity Timeout: By default, Discord servers automatically move or disconnect members after 5 minutes of voice inactivity.
• Wi-Fi Packet Jitter: Discord's real-time voice protocol (WebRTC / UDP) is extremely sensitive to minor Wi-Fi jitter and packet loss, which can cause the PS5 to drop the socket without warning.
• 120Hz Video Mode Bandwidth Clashes: On certain 4K/120Hz displays and TV firmware, the PS5's high-frame-rate video output mode has been observed to cause intermittent HDMI audio buffer drops and background communication timeouts.
• Stale Account Handshake: OAuth tokens between your PlayStation Network account and Discord can occasionally desync after console software updates.

Try the following solutions in order—they have resolved connection drops for the vast majority of drivers:

1. Keep the PS5 Microphone Unmuted (with Lowered Input Gain):
   Make sure the orange mute light on your DualSense controller is OFF. To avoid transmitting steering wheel clicks or pedal noise into the Discord room, open PS5 Settings > Sound > Microphone > Adjust Microphone Level and lower the sensitivity slider. This ensures your PS5 continuously sends keep-alive voice packets to Discord, preventing silence-triggered timeouts.
2. Increase Discord Server Inactivity Timeout to 1 Hour:
   In your Discord application (Desktop or Mobile), open your dedicated server's Server Settings > Overview. Under the Inactive section, set Inactive Timeout to 1 hour (the maximum allowed) and set Inactive Channel to None.
3. Turn OFF Discord Noise Suppression (Krisp):
   Krisp noise suppression can aggressively mute low-volume signals and mistake quiet racing sessions for dead air. In the Discord channel settings on your phone or PC, toggle Noise Suppression to None / Off.
4. Unlink and Re-link Your Discord Account on PS5:
   Go to PS5 Settings > Users and Accounts > Linked Services > Discord. Select Unlink Account, restart your PS5 console completely, then link it again via the on-screen QR code or by visiting discord.com/activate.
5. Switch to a Wired Ethernet Cable or 5 GHz Wi-Fi:
   Avoid 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi bands if possible. A hardwired Ethernet connection between your PS5 and router eliminates packet drops that trigger Discord disconnects.
6. Test Disabling 120Hz Output on PS5:
   Several drivers have reported that disabling 120Hz output in PS5 Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output > 120 Hz Output resolved background communication crashes caused by HDMI handshake congestion.
7. Never Mix PS Party Chat and Discord Voice:
   Avoid joining a native PlayStation Party chat while simultaneously connected to a Discord channel. Running both audio engines concurrently creates resource conflicts on the console.
8. Restore PS5 Default Settings (Safe Reset):
   If drops persist, navigate to PS5 Settings > System > System Software > Reset Options > Restore Default Settings. (Note: This does NOT delete your installed games, saved races, or profiles—it merely refreshes system cache and networking parameters.)

• Zero Radio Chatter Crossover: Your shift tones and race engineer calls won't interrupt friends or league competitors in public channels.
• Full Server Control: You can adjust permissions and set the Inactive Timeout to 1 hour so you are never kicked out during endurance races.
• Independent Audio Mixing: On your PS5, use the Voice Chat Balance slider to balance pit-wall audio and engine sounds to your exact preference.

This occurs because of how the audio input versus output pipelines are routed:

• The Discord Bot is Output-Only (One-Way Radio): The Pit Crew Discord bot functions strictly as an audio transmitter. It broadcasts shift tones and speech synthesis into your Discord voice room so you hear them in your PS5 headset. It does not capture or transcribe incoming audio from drivers in the channel.
• The App Listens to Its Own Physical Device Microphone: Pit Crew Hub's speech recognition engine listens exclusively to the microphone on the device running the app (your phone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer mounted on your sim rig), not the Discord voice stream coming from your PS5.

When you speak into your PS5 headset, your voice travels into PlayStation Network/Discord, but it never reaches the Pit Crew Hub application unless the device running the app can physically hear you in the room.

To use the voice assistant seamlessly while still hearing tones in your headset, follow these steps:

1. Enable the Microphone in the App: On the Live Telemetry Dashboard top action bar, tap the Microphone icon so it turns active and green. If it is white or slashed (MicOff), speech listening is disabled.
2. Place Your Client Device Within Earshot: Mount your phone, tablet, or laptop near your steering wheel base or rig upright so its built-in microphone can clearly pick up your voice when speaking in the room.
3. Set Sensitivity to High (70–85%): Go to Settings > Voice Assistant & Speech and increase the Voice Activation Sensitivity slider. High sensitivity activates forgiving phonetic matching that recognizes "Pit Crew", "pitcrew", "pete crew", or even the single trigger "crew" or "pit".
4. Simultaneous Bluetooth Headset (Recommended for Best Experience): If you use a dual-wireless gaming headset (such as SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro, Turtle Beach Stealth Pro, or Audeze Maxwell):
   • Connect the 2.4 GHz USB wireless dongle to the PS5 (for game sound + Discord chat).
   • Connect the Bluetooth channel to your phone/tablet/PC running Pit Crew Hub.
   This routes your microphone directly into Pit Crew Hub's voice assistant while your Discord PS5 audio plays flawlessly without missing a beat!

• Exit (Soft Exit): Located as a fixed, always-visible button at the bottom of the navigation drawer. Tapping Exit closes the application gracefully: it disconnects active Discord voice channels and flushes data cleanly to disk, without losing your Discord login or custom settings. The next time you open the app, you are still logged in and ready to drive.
• Log Out: Located inside the Settings group. Logging out explicitly revokes your authentication tokens and clears stored credentials from the device, requiring you to re-authorize on your next session.

The navigation drawer features an automatic accordion layout. Expanding any main menu group (such as Telemetry & HUD, GT Sport Mode, League Racing, or Settings) automatically collapses any previously opened section. Combined with the pinned bottom Exit button, this ensures your active options are always in view without vertical crowding on compact smartphones.

Gran Turismo 7 broadcasts a continuous 60Hz telemetry stream over local UDP (ports 33739 and 33740). To connect:

1. Find your PlayStation's IP address on the console: go to Settings > Network > Connection Status > View Connection Status.
2. Open Pit Crew Hub, tap the Connect button on the Telemetry Dashboard, and enter your PlayStation's IP address.
3. Ensure both your console and the client device are on the same local Wi-Fi router / network subnet.

Once connected, the app decrypts the telemetry stream in real time to display live throttle/brake traces, tire temperatures, G-G friction circles, and speed deltas.
